Gabi Steindl: Just got 2 Dubai

Heeeeeeeeeeeeey, joy, after a rather exhausting plane trip of 11 hours (9000km) from Perth, W.A., I  j u s t  arrived in the city of sheiks, fat cars, the tallest building in the world and a palmtree made out of sand that got many into bankcruptcy.. YES, I’m in Dubai, UAE, stoked Read more ...

Gabi Steindl: I l u v Kenya !

Folks, this place ROCKS

Yeah, first day at the Nyali International Beach Hotel greeted me with no wind, though, I have to admit, this place is soooooo beautiful and pretty drained of my 35 hours travel from Australia anyway, I actually didn’t mind a little time to chill!  … and chilling out, relaxing, unwinding here is easy, the hotel is absolutely stunning: 2 pools, an insanely white, huge sand beach, great food, at the Aqua Beach Bar there’s THE most comfortable ‘chill out’ beds with cosy cushions, beathtaking palmtrees, huge frangipani trees… monkeys in the garden, camels on the beach -  JOY, too cool, I  l o v e   this place Read more ...

Gabi Steindl: Smile, I’m in Kenya!

Juhuuu, how exciting, I’ve just gotten to Kenya

This trip only has just come up last week and in a ‘travel-agent-race’ over several time zones, I got my ticket confirmed saturday night to travel 24 hours later…

Perth – Nairobi – Moombasa, a journey that’s taken longer than going from Austria to Australia, though, after approximately 30 hours, I’ve finally arrived in Mombasa, the final destination. Read more ...

Gabi Steindl: Epic boattrip, rockin‘ d blue moon!

Oh man, woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow folks, I find it hard to put into words what’s in my heart, adrenalin stores and memory…   The reason for my incredible stokedness was the boattrip last weekend to the Abrolhos Islands that I’ve been privileged to be part of and which turned out to become one of the most epic wave-adventures in my personal list of ‘once-in-a-lifetime wave trips’. Gabi Steindl: Sayin’ bye 2 d’snow in Austria

Wow, the time has come…. After having spent 2 months in my home country Austria, it’s time 2 leave…  and I have to admit I’m getting a bit sentimental about it.

Yeah, it was the first time in many, many years that I visited Austria in winter time and I have gotten really used to the snow, the cold, hot drinks, and stuff Read more ...

Gabi Steindl: Joy waves in W.A.

Shortly before boarding the airplane to grey, wintery Europe, I was praying for some last joy session in the mind-blowing waves of my beloved W.A…. and the Wind & Swell Gods answered my prayers    Thanx !!!

Yes yes yes, stoked, cause pretty decent swell rolled in with some sweet 20 knots, sunshine and I could go onto a wave Rock’n'Roll with my favourite kite and board, the 2010 Rebel 5m2 and Kontact 6′3 … mhhhhh, was so, soooooo good   !! Read more ...

Gabi Steindl: Back home in Austria

Huff, after a 32 hours journey, pretty much from one side of the World to the other, I’ve arrived well back home in Vienna for the first time in almost one year…

3 planes, lots-of-rather disgusting plane food and a couple of tranquilizing glasses of vino, I have to admit, I’m pretty stoked arriving in Vienna in the afternoon of Friday the 13th.  yep, wasn’t too impressed with myself after I realized that I had booked myself onto this monster-journey on a Friday the 13th, especially after having been on a rather unlucky patch lately anyway…  and having just survived a rather heavy car crash, flying on friday the 13th was perhaps pushing it a bit… only if one is supersticious, though, right Read more ...

Gabi Steindl: Lucky 2 be alive !!

Wooooow, ever felt like in a really bad movie guys, do u know that feeling, it isn’t a nice one, yeah…?!

I dont’ really know where 2 start this story, could write a novel here…. mh, I reckon best, where I left u off with a few weeks ago…

So, the past 6 weeks I spent on hardcore wave-training in the outback of W.A.  I had  THE best waves of my life, some serious swells brought cranking conditions and I had time to test my brandnew 2010 North gear extensively in very challenging conditions. the verdict is simple:  The North Rebel 2010 as well as the 2010 Kontact waveboard are  T H E  best pieces of kitegear that I’ve ever had the pleasure of riding in my 8 year career as kite-pro -  S I C K !!!   Detailed reports on the North 2010 kites + boards will be posted in my blog over the next week, thus: stay tuned ! Gabi Steindl: ‘Out-of-the-office’

For the next few weeks, I will be on hardcore wave-training at some very special place, far away from civilisation and thus also out-of-internet-coverage, thus I’m already apologzing here in advance that my blog-section won’t be updated regularily…. yep, sorry folks, however, sometimes even a kite-pro is ’out-of-the-office’  …

I would already like to thank u in advance for ur understanding guys and promise I will make up for it.  Keep checking kiteboarding magazines in the meantime, I have some sick features about to be published that you surely will be loving Read more ...

Gabi Steindl: Come bungy jump with me in New Zealand !!!

Bungy Jumping has been invented in New Zealand and is huuuuge here, thus a clear ‘must do’ for all visitors

I threw myself already a couple of times off some cranes and bridges about 10 years ago, when bungy jumping conquered Europe, I have to admit, though, each time I was shi$%ting myself as I’m really  -  and I mean  r e a l l y  – scared of heights !!  ‘Why do it then’, you might ask, because I feel it’s good to face & conquer your fears, try it, you’ll see, that counts with all sorts of fears in life and even if it’s something like travelling to a foreign country alone, once you go for it, you’ll be stoked with it 4 sure !! Gabi Steindl: boosting into sky

What’s a kitpro supposed 2 do on days when there’s no wind nor any waves 2 surf…???  mh, that’s what I asked myself here yesterday at lovely Mount Maunganui-town on the East coast of the North island, New Zealand.  Mount Maunganui is home to my team-mate and mulitple Kiwi-national Champ Marc Jacobs.

Darmn, I had the pleasure of riding and shooting with Marc over the last couple of days and I have to say:  respect, he  r i p s  big time, sick yeah !! Read more ...
