Today, precisely one year ago, I was as close to ‘not seeing next day’s daylight…’ as I’ve never been in my life before. Yep, I experienced THE most serious wipe-out of my career in a rather serious swell that rolled in at Australias amazing west coast on 12th of March 2009.
You can read up on that day in my blog from a year ago, if you want. Basically what happened, is simply what can happen anytime, any day, in any condition…: All of a sudden it all went horribly wrong and although I’ve been having the greates ball out there for almost 2 hours, suddenly sh$t happened… a monster munched me, I got tangled in my lines and got the second wave of a monster-set on my head, whilst still having a line wrapped around my arm… Read more ...

I was lucky the other day to get some new pictures again. The photographer is Paul Smyth. Thanks for taking the pictures. This time we went to Point Walter as the wind started coming from the east now. It seems that the windy season is over now. It is cloudy more often now and the wind keeps coming from the east. Hopefully the swell picks up a bit. Another Kitelife issue will be published during the next days with some nice stuff in it like travel story to Kenya and Ireland plus an interview with Xavier Rudd. Besides that boardway, the kiteschool I work during summer has made a nice teaser worth watching. There is also a bit of footage of me in it. So check it out. Read more ...

There is this double page in a kiteboarding magazine of me. Funny enough though because they advertise for some spots around the world. This picture was taken at my homespot in Germany. Apparantely my homespot is the best in the world. Glad that this is offical now :)
Other than that, it’s really nice here in WA still. Yesterday we went to Xavier Rudd. Brilliant as usual and his new band rocks as well. Tomorrow is The Cat Empire on. Obviously I am living a great life at the moment. The swell also has gotten bigger. So surfing is a lot of fun. It is still windy everyday as well and my body is begging me for a break. But no chance. You have to take what you are given and that is perfect conditions at the moment. That’s it so far again. Read more ...

For the wallpaper of the month of March, I’ve chosen a waveshot that was taken by Russell Ord on some heavy swell day on the coast of Western Australia. Yeah, I still remember this crazy session, like yesterday…
In the morning on waking up on the farm that I stay at here in W.A. I could already feel it, ‘Swell had hit’, I was absolutely positive. I jumped in my car, the sun had only just risen, beautiful light everywhere through the giant gum trees, and speeded to the Ocean… Yeah JOY, the surf’ was up, and even bigger than forecasted! A little update from Perth. It’s been super hot the last days. I reckon it’s been about 40°C everyday. That means that seabreeze kicks in everyday as well. So I could go kiting at Pelican Point the last days which is a super nice spot in the middle of the city. When you ride a bit further out on the river you can have a perfect view on the Perthian skyline. Just amazing. We also could use the last days to shoot a bit for the Kitelife Magazine. Just super sweet colours here. Plus the fact that there aren’t many people kiting on the river makes it just perfect. Training, if you wanna call it like this, has been going on really well. I could land some new tricks like a Late Mobe and S-Bend 3.
The swell has also picked up a lot. Today was about shoulder to head high. For me as a surf-idiot really scary. But good to see the guys ripping it really hard.
Next week there’s gonna be Xavier Rudd, The Cat Empire and The Beautiful Girls in town. I am really looking forward to seeing these bands again.
So far.. Now I have to get back to my English essays I have to write for uni. 2500 is way to much when there’s 40°C outside. Read more ...

It’s about time, that I tell u a bit what’s been happening here in Down Under. The last weeks have been a blast. The weather has been fantastic and there has been wind almost every day. Last weekend we went on a road trip down south to my favourite surf spot Denmark. Although travelling for more than six hours it is really worth the effort. The little country town with the award winning pie shop has to be loved. Whoever has been reading my blog over the years has read about that town before.
Besides travelling I’ve been going down to Woodies a lot. Alex Pastor, Cesar Portas and Bruna Kajiya are also in Perth at the moment so it is a lot of fun riding with them. Little by little I am getting back to my last year’s shape. I could really feel that i had not been kiting for five month. So there is still a lot to catch up with.
That is the state of affairs so far. I am going for a surf now at Trigg’s Point. Read more ...

Eventually I am back to Perth. I arrived last night. Actually I booked a flight one day earlier. So I popped up at the airport but the flight was totally overbooked. The airline looked for volunteers who would take the flight a day after. We got a nice accommodation and food vouchers. So that was really easy and a nice day. Unfortunately there was no Fry and Bender on the plane but still a good flight. I slept just two hours now. It’s early in the morning and quite stormy already. So I am super keen on hitting to the water and see all the other good riders who are here at the moment for the Core Slider Jam. I’d better stop now and get a cell phone card and get in contact with my buddy Sci. So I’ll have a lot to talk about and a lot of video stuff to show you the next days. Read more ...

Heheeeeeeeey, excellent, I’ve just gotten back to Western Australia and immediately there’s some sick action happening here: the annual Slider Jam, a freeride-event put together by Core Online magazine at Woodmans Point in Perth.
9 days and a sick fun park made up of rails, sliders, and kickers, each one sponsored by a kite-brand attrackts quite a crowd and some really ‘big names’ in the kiteboarding professional scene made their way to ‘Woodies’ (as Woodmans Point is referred to by the locals) amongst them my North International team mates Tom Court (UK), Cesar Portas (ESP), also 5x Kiteboarding Worldchamp Aaron Hadlow, even Andre Phillip, Susie Mai, Bruna Kajija and many more… Read more ...

Wow, the time has come…. After having spent 2 months in my home country Austria, it’s time 2 leave… and I have to admit I’m getting a bit sentimental about it.
Yeah, it was the first time in many, many years that I visited Austria in winter time and I have gotten really used to the snow, the cold, hot drinks, and stuff Read more ...

Eventually, I’ll go back to Perth on 30th of January. I just booked my flights. It was a little hustle to get the visa and flights and so on. However, I am so happy that everything has worked out and I am going back! So you will find a lot of pics and videos from Woodman Point, Trigg’s and Kangaroos again on my page. I am just so happy now. Cya around.. Read more ...

Huff, after a 32 hours journey, pretty much from one side of the World to the other, I’ve arrived well back home in Vienna for the first time in almost one year…
3 planes, lots-of-rather disgusting plane food and a couple of tranquilizing glasses of vino, I have to admit, I’m pretty stoked arriving in Vienna in the afternoon of Friday the 13th. yep, wasn’t too impressed with myself after I realized that I had booked myself onto this monster-journey on a Friday the 13th, especially after having been on a rather unlucky patch lately anyway… and having just survived a rather heavy car crash, flying on friday the 13th was perhaps pushing it a bit… only if one is supersticious, though, right Read more ...

Wooooow, ever felt like in a really bad movie guys, do u know that feeling, it isn’t a nice one, yeah…?!
I dont’ really know where 2 start this story, could write a novel here…. mh, I reckon best, where I left u off with a few weeks ago…
So, the past 6 weeks I spent on hardcore wave-training in the outback of W.A. I had THE best waves of my life, some serious swells brought cranking conditions and I had time to test my brandnew 2010 North gear extensively in very challenging conditions. the verdict is simple: The North Rebel 2010 as well as the 2010 Kontact waveboard are T H E best pieces of kitegear that I’ve ever had the pleasure of riding in my 8 year career as kite-pro - S I C K !!! Detailed reports on the North 2010 kites + boards will be posted in my blog over the next week, thus: stay tuned ! Read more ...
