It was such a fun trip with the editor Aaron Sales and the photographer Bill Doster, we had a lot of fun and I'm sure its the first of many!  Read more ...

Sam Light: Maui – Turks and Ciacos

I'm having a lot of fun at the moment! I spent a week out in Maui just chilling, shooting with Jon Malberg but we didnt score any epic conditions apart from the first day when it was cloudy. Worked on a few things with Naish for 2011, testing boards and kites. Also bought myself a set of golf clubs, as we played a round and I realised i have to get into it and play a lot more, especially when im in such good places like hawaii.  Read more ...

Sam Light: British Champion 2009

What a great year! I have been competing on the BKSA tour for a few years now, coming up through the juniors then into the pros. It certainly hasn't been easy but its been a lot of fun and I have learnt loads about competing and just riding, I have met some really cool people and had an amazing time. There's been a lot of frustrating times and my fair share of bad luck but I have stuck with it and come out on top!  Read more ...

Sam Light: 1st at Bridlington BKSA!

Hello! Just got back from another weekend at a BKSA comp. Ended up getting the competition run on the sunday afternoon despite everyones unwillingness.Basically the wind was offshore on the friday and really gusty with rain squalls coming through frequently the wind was so up and down so the pro's took a vote not to run it and wait for the cleaner slightly more cross shore wind on the saturday. Again on saturday the wind wasn't perfect but they managed to get everything done but the heats of the pro men and ladies, we did a 10 minute best trick which Ali Barrett won with a back mobe! Sam Light: 1st at Blackpool BKSA!

Just got back from the 2nd round of the BKSA kiteival series in Blackpool, there really cool events and great for the sport in the UK as there is every type of kite sports so there loads going on and lots for the public to see.The forecast looked great for friday and saturday and we managed to wrap up the pros early friday. It has been so close all year in the pro's everybody's standard is so high, I didn't have it easy as well, to get to the final i had to beat Tom Court, Martin Hogg, and Ned Taylor to go into the final against James Boulding and Ali Barrett, it was a really close final the wind picked up right before the heat and i was on a 6m which helped me a lot i think as i wasnt too overpowered. I landed a shifty 3, switch shifty 3, blind judge 3, switch blind judge, back to blind, s to blind, a big kiteloop, slim chance, and in the last minute i landed a textbook frontmobe which is hard on a 6. i thought it was really close as Ali and James were riding amazing but i was lucky enough to take the win! This has given me a bit of a lead in the overall standings but its not over yet! Final results were me 1st James 2nd and Ali 3rd. Read more ...

Sam Light: Crow Mobe

This is a trick i have been working on for a while.. I took it from cable Wakeboarding and I'm trying to make it look good kiting, this by far Isn't the best one i have done but on flat water its hard to take off kiting from toe side, its actually quite a technical trick and involved quite a lot of technique. Its all about the flip motion coming over into blind.Enjoy... Read more ...

Sam Light: Barrow In Furness

Just got back from the latest BKSA event in Barrow in Furness, we had really good conditions it was really windy all weekend. The results were:1st James Boulding2nd Sam Light3rd Ned TaylorPretty bummed I got 2nd! I thought I had the final, I matched James trick for trick and then did a Frontmobe to Blind, it was the only double in the heat, I knew it was really close and Im happy for James that he won its cool because all the points are really close. Im still winning overall but not by much now, I'm going to need to step it up in the next comp which will be in Blackpool in about a month. Bring it on

Sam Light: Fuerteventura

Just got back from Fuerteventura, where i competed in the PKRA and did the 'Fuerte Slider Project' with Tom Court, Jo Ciastula, Chris birke, and Susi Mai.As far as the comp it didnt go as well as i hoped, i got a 17th after going head to head against fellow Englishmen Tom Court, he is a good friend and has been on the tour for a while now so i know he will be a hard heat. We both had a blinding heat and it was a 3-2 judges decision but unfortunately it went to Tom, i was still happy as we both had a really good heat it was just though because we were against each other so early on in the ladder and we both could have got further if the draw was different. Each comp i do i gain a lot more competition experience and i ride better every time, so I'm going to try and get to a few more and hopefully get some better results. Read more ...

Sam Light: 1st Hunstanton BKSA

Just got back from Hunstanton BKSA, We had really good wind on the Sunday, i was so impressed by the organization of the BKSA. They did a really good Job! It must have been hard work as they ran 2 competitions as once to get everything done before on the Sunday, and with 60 competitors that wasnt easy. The Pro fleet is insane, the riding level is so high, anyone can make it into the final these days! I was on it for my semi and the final and i was lucky enough to take the win which puts me 1st overall. Really happy with that. I also won a sector 9 skateboard for the best trick category which toped off my win i was chuffed! I did a Frontmobe to Blind. Big thanks to the lifestyles event it was really cool and John for finding my phone. See you at Barrow.Im off the Fuerte tomorrow check out my twitter for updates how im doing

Sam Light: cable and kiting sessions…

Its been a good week back since the comp at the weekend, nothing liking kiting back at home with the crew! Monday and tuesday turned out to be really good, then on wednesday after a big night cruised down to Thorpe cable and had a really good session. I would just like to say Thanks for the support that everyone gave me after the weekend! and i would like to express my apologies to Toby and the BKSA i do stand by what i said but i didn't mean it to come across as just slagging them off, it was just my frustration after practicing hard all winter and not understanding why.. at the end of the day i want to help improve the tour and watch it grow in the UK which is why ill be at future comps. annnyyywayy here is a pretty cool lifestyle picture from Maui taken by Stephen Whitesell on the Molkalia islands? not really sure how to spell that but it was a really cool place! Sam Light: BKSA Swansea! What a joke

Just got back from the event in Swansea, it was a really well run event with loads going on with the new 'kiteval'. We had good wind to.But i think it was some sort of sick joke.. i went straight through into the final, then in the final it was really windy i was stacked on my 8, i did a slim chance, shifty 3, blind judge, switch blind judge, flat 3, a few mega loops and big jumps. My kite was low and i was proper powered, it wasnt my best heat but was easily enough to win. I came in and no disrespect to toby theres no way he should have won, he did a blind judge hasslehoff with the kite at 12 and a raily to blind with a few small kiteloops. I dont know how that could ever beat my heat. I've pretty much given up on the BKSA, i don't think im going to compete in any more events as there is no point when stupid decisions are made, its a shame as i think the events are getting good. I think i will concentrate on international events
