Your FREE WALLPAPER for the month of June was taken during a once-in-a-lifetime-trip to Papua Newguinea  (PNG)  where I spent three absolutely unforgettable weeks last year. Papua New Guinea, a remote, mysterious country, secluded from the modern world! Where Stone Age continues, where unknown, belligerent tribes live…

My trip to PNG was split into 3 stages: The first week I stayed on the Trobriand Islands -  which are also called ‘Islands of Love’ -  the second week in the capital Port Moresby and the third week in a small fisher-village four hours south of the capital along the coast: Hula.  In Hula Village I felt honoured having been hosted by the family of the president of the PNG Olympic Committee & Sporting Federation. Today, precisely one year ago, I was as close to ‘not seeing next day’s daylight…’  as I’ve never been in my life before. Yep, I experienced THE most serious wipe-out of my career in a rather serious swell that rolled in at Australias amazing west coast on 12th of March 2009.

In the morning on waking up on the farm that I stay at here in W.A. I could already feel it, ‘Swell had hit’, I was absolutely positive.   I jumped in my car, the sun had only just risen, beautiful light everywhere through the giant gum trees, and speeded to the Ocean…    Yeah JOY, the surf’ was up, and even bigger than forecasted! Yeah, first day at the Nyali International Beach Hotel greeted me with no wind, though, I have to admit, this place is soooooo beautiful and pretty drained of my 35 hours travel from Australia anyway, I actually didn’t mind a little time to chill!  … and chilling out, relaxing, unwinding here is easy, the hotel is absolutely stunning: 2 pools, an insanely white, huge sand beach, great food, at the Aqua Beach Bar there’s THE most comfortable ‘chill out’ beds with cosy cushions, beathtaking palmtrees, huge frangipani trees… monkeys in the garden, camels on the beach -  JOY, too cool, I  l o v e   this place Read more ...
